cops pass Napolcom qualifying exam More than 3,000 examinees for the permanent of appointment of police officers passed the recent National Police Commission's nationwide special qualifying examination. The announcement was made Thursday by the Napolcom which said that out of the 3, 915 registered examinees of the Philippine National Police (PNP), 3, 029 or 77.36% passed. "The special exams were conducted exclusively for all qualified members of the PNP holding temporary appointments. However, the resulting eligibility should be used only for change of status of appointment and cannot be used for promotional purposes," said Isidro D. Siriban, NAPOLCOM Personnel and Administrative Service Chief. The exams were held on April 26, 2008 in various testing centers. It was intended for the permanent appointment of those police officers who have temporary appointments due to lack of police eligibility corresponding their ranks. NAPOLCOM Examining Division statistics show that of the 2,112 examinees, 1,664 or 78.79% passed the police officer (PO1 to PO3) exam and 1,365 or 75.70% passed the senior police officer (SPO1 to SPO4) exam. The three-hour examination consisted of 200 items and covered four subject areas including General Information, Police Administration, Police Operations and Police Customs and Traditions/Values and Ethical Standards. The exams were conducted in 24 test centers in the cities of San Fernando, Angeles, Tuguegarao, Calamba, Lucena, Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Mindoro, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Cotabato (for Central Mindanao and ARMM), Butuan, Baguio, and in Marinduque. Meanwhile, the 733 Metro Manila examinees took the test at the Pitogo High School, Benigno Aquino High School and Fort Bonifacio High School, all in Makati City. A new scanning machine called Optical Mark Reader (OMR) facilitated and expedited the checking of the answers sheets. - GMANews.TV |
